Completed over three and a half years at a cost of £140 million, this architectural feat is more than just a whisky production facility—it is a timber landscape that seamlessly integrates natural topography, precise craftsmanship, and sustainable design.
A Curved Roof Echoing the Landform: Connecting Architecture and Earth
Designed by the British architectural firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, the distillery's most striking feature is its undulating roof. Supported by a timber framework comprising over 380,000 individual components, the flowing form follows the contours of the landscape, blending poetic elegance with engineering precision. Interwoven glulam beams and metal nodes create a dialogue between strength and delicacy, making the structure appear as if it has organically emerged from the earth, coexisting with its environment.
