Species Introduction
Eucalyptus, also known as “eucalypt,” is one of the most widely used hardwood species in the world.
Most eucalyptus species feature dense fiber structure and good strength, making them commonly used in furniture manufacturing, construction materials, and industrial applications such as pulp production.
Production Areas and Distribution
Eucalyptus is native to Australia, but it has become one of the most widely planted plantation species worldwide.
Today, it is broadly distributed across South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. South America—particularly countries such as Brazil and Uruguay—is one of the most important regions for eucalyptus cultivation and global supply.
Applications
With broad applications and stable supply, eucalyptus is commonly used in:
- Outdoor and landscape applications (depending on grade and treatment): outdoor building materials, landscaping projects, railings, and exterior wooden structures
- Interior finishing: wall panels, decorative cladding, and general interior materials
- Flooring and furniture: solid wood furniture, table tops, cabinets, and wood flooring
- Industrial use: pulp, panels, and other downstream industrial applications
